The weather in Italy in June is perfect. As summer begins, the country comes alive with vibrant festivals, hot sunshine, and endless cultural treasures to explore. The weather in Italy in June marks the beginning of summer in Italy, and temperatures across the country tend to be warm to hot during this month. However, the level of warmth can vary depending on the region within Italy.

In northern Italy, including cities like Milan and Venice, June temperatures typically range from warm to hot. Average highs can vary between 24°C (75°F) and 30°C (86°F), while average lows range from 15°C (59°F) to 19°C (66°F).

In central Italy, which includes cities like Rome and Florence, June is typically warmer compared to the north. Average highs range from 26°C (79°F) to 31°C (88°F), while average lows range from 16°C (61°F) to 19°C (66°F). It can feel hot during the daytime, especially in inland areas.

Southern Italy, including destinations like Naples and Sicily, experiences even warmer temperatures in June. Average highs range from 28°C (82°F) to 33°C (91°F), with average lows between 19°C (66°F) and 22°C (72°F). It can get quite hot in southern coastal areas and islands.

Is June a good time to visit Italy?

The weather in Italy in June provides great temperatures. This is one of the most popular times to visit Italy. With 7600km of coastline, you won't be short of great places to hang out on the beach. Average rainfall in Italy in June

Italy generally experiences lower rainfall in June compared to the spring months.

For Milan and Venice, June tends to be relatively dry. The average rainfall in Milan is around 71 mm (2.8 inches), while Venice receives an average of 58 mm (2.3 inches) of rainfall.

In central Italy, Rome and Florence are typically dry compared to the preceding months too. The capital sees an average rainfall of about 25 mm (1 inch), while Florence receives around 38 mm (1.5 inches) of rainfall.

Southern Italy has lower rainfall levels. Naples receives an average rainfall of approximately 24 mm (0.9 inches), while Sicily sees around 8 mm (0.3 inches) of rainfall.

Festivals and events in Italy in June

  • Noto, Spello, Genzano - Infiorata (weekend in May or June). Spectacular flower art festival in which dried petals are used to create large-scale artworks in the streets.
  • Florence Calcio Storico Fiorentino (early June with final on June 24th). Four teams wearing historical costumes compete in a combination of football, rugby and wrestling originating in sixteenth-century Florence.
  • Verona Arena opera season (late June to late Aug); Warena.it. Ravello Festival (late June to late Aug).
  • Amalfi Coast opera and chamber music festival; Amalfi, Genoa, Pisa, Venice Regatta of the Maritime Republics (first Sat & Sun in June). Costumed procession and a race in replica Renaissance boats. The venue alternates yearly; 2016 is Amalfi’s turn.
  • Pisa Game of the Bridge (last Sat). A costumed parade and mock battle between rival teams on the town’s main bridge.
