My name is Gabriela, and I grew up in the colorful landscapes of Salta, where my love for travel and culture first began. Guided by curiosity, I’ve explored remote nature, diverse traditions, and the stories that shape each place. The more I traveled, the more I appreciated the richness of Argentina and South America. Today, I use that passion to craft meaningful journeys that reveal the region’s true soul — its flavors, sounds, landscapes, and unforgettable human connections.

“Anahi has been amazing for us. She was quick to understand our needs/wants. Her communication/timing and responses were always impeccable. I was so pleased with how she related to what we wanted, hit the essence of our needs, and came up with something that will truly be fantastic. We have been independent travelers for many years, but wanted a bit more guidance for this journey, and Anahi has been just perfect. Muchas Gracias, Ani”

“Rough Guides partnered with local tourism operators to develop a wonderful exciting itinerary for our group of four. Throughout the trip I had regular communication via WhatsApp and never felt ignored or without a sense of support. This was critically important because several unforeseen setbacks occurred during our trip. A critical flight was canceled that jeopardized our entire itinerary. The Local team worked swiftly and efficiently to figure out the most timely and efficient way for us to get back on our schedule. In Uyuni, I fell and broke my arm. Our local guide and driver were absolutely amazing in caring for me and getting me to the health clinic for care. These are unusual and unexpected setbacks, and I was very appreciative that the entire team at Pure Bolivia and Rough Guides were checking in on me regularly. Normally, I travel and book my travel independently. But this time, I was very glad to have had the concierge support along the way. I will be booking more tours in the future with Rough Guides. ”

When Ignacio talks about Chile, his passion is contagious. An adventurer at heart, he has explored his country by mountain bike through Patagonia, kayaking near La Serena, and hiking the Andes in search of hidden landscapes and authentic experiences. But Ignacio’s love for Chile goes beyond adventure—he’s also the family parrillero, happiest gathered around a grill sharing great food and stories. Whether crafting unforgettable itineraries or uncovering lesser-known corners of the country, Ignacio loves helping travelers experience Chile through its nature, culture, and local spirit.

I was born and raised in Paraguay, I came to Argentina to study and travel and fell in love with the country, which welcomed me with open arms and adopted me over twenty years ago. I first started working in the airline business and travelled throughout this amazing country getting to know each region, its charming and colourful people and its delicious and varied wines and cuisines, I am also fascinated by its folklore and traditional dances, dancing being my other great passion along with travel. In Buenos Aires, my now hometown, I am an established contemporary dancer and I have been fortunate enough to dance in many of its most important cultural centers including the Colon Opera House.

My first big trip across Argentina completely changed the way I saw my own country. I fell in love with its wild landscapes, deep-rooted culture, and the feeling of discovery around every corner. That journey lit a spark in me—and I knew I wanted to help others experience the same magic.
At 18, I decided to study Tourism and turn my passion into a lifelong adventure. From tracking pumas in Patagonia to kayaking hidden rivers and walking local trails, I’ve explored Argentina and Chile from top to tip—and I’m here to help you do the same.

I love to travel and, since my childhood in Quito, Ecuador, I have been surrounded by beautiful nature, rich culture, and local traditions. I create tailor-made trips across South America that connect travelers with nature, culture, and local communities in a responsible way. Every trip I create supports conservation, reforestation, and local projects, and is adapted to travelers’ needs based on their feedback. I’m proud to work for a company that values social and environmental impact, recognized with Travelife, TourCert, and Global Compact certifications. My goal is to create trips that leave a positive impact and help travelers reconnect with life while exploring South America.

“15 Day Peru & Galapagos Discovery – Culture and Wildlife This was the first trip I booked through Insight Guides and it couldn’t have turned out any better! The process began with an inquiry to IG about the type of trip and dates I was looking for to book a “dream trip” to Machu Picchu and the Galapagos Islands. I reached out about 7 months prior to the actual date of the trip and was connected with Jeferson, who put together an amazing itinerary, based on our needs and wants. Everything was taken into consideration in planning this trip for us – our price point, destinations, dates, type of hotel, special dietary needs, the preferred ship we wanted in the Galapagos, just to name a few. What I found out later is that IG sources local travel experts (Jeferson is with Responsible Travel) and this is really a nice feature. We were also introduced to Benjamin, who became our main contact for the duration of the trip. Once the original itinerary was sent, we reviewed it and made a few “tweaks” to it – sending our requests/changes to Jeferson and Benjamin. They included everything we asked for, as well as adding some very good suggestions for other things for us to do. Our trip was for a group of four and we traveled from May 21 – June 5, 2026. We began in Peru and ended in Ecuador. Everything went without a hitch – and there were many moving parts (planes, trains, automobiles/ferry and yacht). Every assigned guide and driver was excellent – courteous, punctual and all passionate about their job, making for the absolute best experiences in all the places we toured/visited. As the start of the trip became closer, we were in contact with Benjamin via WhatsApp and Zoom calls – it was so very nice to put a face to our incredible planner. Imagine our surprise when Benjamin came to the Quito airport to meet our group of four before we began the flight to the Galapagos Islands! He genuinely loves his job and his customers. Upon our return to Quito after the GP portion, we had the pleasure of meeting again with Benjamin and also Jeferson. We were so happy to meet them and talk about the wonderful trip they planned for us. They were both so incredibly caring and passionate about making sure the trip they planned for us met our expectations. I can’t say enough about the daily check-ins and following up to make sure every part of our trip went smoothly. When working with IG in your trip planning, if there are certain things you absolutely want to see or do, let them know and they will make sure to include these items. They are great in suggesting things for you to do if you want to give them free rein (they are the experts after all!) I highly recommend IG and would definitely use them again when planning my next trip.”

“This was an unforgettable experience in Peru run by consummate professionals. Our trip with Rough Guides was the most professional well run tour operation we have ever been on. Our initial expectations were typical of our trips to SA. Everyone is late, everything is behind schedule and sometimes you just don't get all of the itinerary completed because the guides and tour operators operated by a different clock. Everything from the time we were picked up at the airport to our departure was ON TIME! Our guides were at our hotel exactly when they said they were going to be. They were all friendly, spoke English well, were informative, just absolute pleasures to work with. Our booking process was just as smooth. We worked with Jeferson to set up our trip. Told him what we wanted to see and do, what our expectations were(culture, sightseeing, nature and history, skip the shopping) and he provided exactly what we asked for. Once we were in Peru, Jose and Ronnie assisted us through text messages, phone calls and WhatsApp guiding us through the whole trip, even through a few vagaries which always turned out in the end to be perfectly fine. Now, there was a downside to this extreme punctuality and organization. There was no room for us to not be ready to go when it was time to go. This is no fault but I hope this helps a future traveler. We frequently were picked up before our hotel began serving breakfast and did not get a good breakfast to start the day. The hotels would provide a "box meal" and no fault of Rough Guides but these box meals were hardly substantive enough to provide you with the energy to do the walking and exploring that we did. Because we did and saw a lot in a short period of time we typically stayed in a different hotel each night. This made our evenings hectic. We had to find dinner in a new town, get cleaned and packed up to be ready to go at 4:30-6:30 the following morning. I wouldn't call this a fault, just something to prepare for. This trip was booked to celebrate our 24th wedding anniversary and neither of us would hesitate to book again with Rough Guides and we will probably go back with Rough Guides on a slower paced trip in the future now that we have seen the highlights of Peru. Peru has so much more to offer than just the highlights too! We had a different guide each day of our trip with Ronnie and Jose informing us the day before who our guide was and when they would pick us up from our hotel. Every guide we had was punctual, friendly, informative and we even had a guide we had some deep philosophical discussions with whose native language is Quechuan and also spoke Spanish and English! What an immersion! Very much looking forward to our next trip with Rough Guides!”

“We went on a 12 day trip that included 3 countries and many 'tours' . All hotels were lovely and well situated. All pick ups to and from the various airports (there were 7 flights involved!) went without a hitch. We had only one problem with train tickets which was dealt with within the hour. In short, we had a really great time and I was very happy that we had used Jeferson's services. Couldn't have been better. Thank you very much, Jeferson and Rough Guides”

“I’ve now used Rough Guides twice first for Oman and now for LATAM and both trips have been exceptional from start to finish. Our recent LATAM itinerary was incredibly well organised despite involving multiple countries, flights, transfers, tours, and moving parts. Everything felt seamless. We were consistently checked in ahead of flights, boarding passes were shared proactively, and communication throughout the trip was excellent. Jeferson was always available when needed and incredibly responsive and helpful throughout. Some standout moments included the food tour in Lima, which was honestly one of the highlights of the trip and such a brilliant way to experience a city. Iguazu Falls and Machu Picchu were absolutely awe-inspiring, visiting both a natural wonder of the world and one of the world’s great historical wonders in the same trip felt truly magical. We did have one minor hiccup with the train to Machu Picchu, but it was handled quickly and professionally. A hotel was arranged immediately, logistics were reorganised smoothly, and everything was resolved with minimal stress on our side. That level of calm problem-solving really stood out. Overall, the trip was energising, exciting, and beautifully executed. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Rough Guides, and I’m already planning my next trip with them, Sri Lanka next! Thank you again to Jeferson and the wider team for such a memorable experience. ✨🙌🏾🙏🏾”

“Our second experience using Insight Guides made for a worry-free trip that included Cusco, Lake Titicaca and the Peruvian Amazon: transfers were always on time, flexible if we wanted to change times a bit, and drivers and guides super friendly. Of the three contact people who coordinated itineraries, I have to single out Benjamin who was so helpful, friendly and responsive. Suggestion early on that we opt for Titicaca Lodge rather than another hotel was made by our initial contact, Jeferson, and was spot on: We could not have had a better experience on a floating island so thanks to Jeferson for that advice. My advice to others: Double check the details and really pin down exactly what you are getting. The promised cooking class in Cusco was not as billed, and just involved us watching a busy kitchen prepare local cuisine for lunch -- which was good but definitely not hands-on as promised. In the Amazon we had asked twice about the level of room we were getting; asked for Comfort which was an upgrade, were promised we were getting all Premium rooms but when we got to the Rainforest Lodge we were told we had booked a Standard which was super small. The lodge upgraded us to a suite which was nice and made a huge difference. Similarly our room in Lima was so small that we practically fell over each other -- even though we were told by Insight that all our accommodation was premium (it turns out we were in the smallest, cheapest room in that hotel). We worked with Benjamin to change hotels for our final two nights which cost a bit of extra but made for a much better experience. So double check every detail that is part of the itinerary and make sure you are getting what you think you should be getting for your money. The devil is always in the details.”

“This trip was so important to me and my family for my 70th birthday and for my 2 sons to know and understand their roots! My mom was born in Ambato, Ecuador 🇪🇨 and since she has passed I have always wanted to go to her country of origin! I have nothing but praise and appreciations and gratitude towards Responsible Travel via (Rough Guides) Travel agency for an amazing 🤩 and fun filled vacation! Everything went well with our itinerary and activities that Jeferson planned. He really knew what I/we wanted to experience, plus we were able to visit with my cousins! Our driver & guide was exceptional. Mateo kept us safe and we felt at home. He knew all the history of the places we went to & explained the culture and local lifestyle etc. The activity guides were great & they too (Olga, Rigo, Andre, Candy, Leo, & Karin) kept us safe and knew all about the Galapagos, and the volcanoes 🌋 etc…! All were professional and very well organized! I would highly recommend this company & travel agency to anyone that asks me! I/we are happy and overjoyed with the service we received! Love them! Jeferson took care of our every need 24/7. He kept me at ease when my hubby got sick, he was taken care of immediately and the staff kept him well. And Mateo was with us and took care of our every need! Extremely happy with our trip & adventures! Thank you 🙏🏽 so, so, much! When planning the trip, RGs were attentive, responsive, cheerful, sympathetic and constructive. The trip we ended up with was amazing: we achieved exactly what we dreamed of - and more. The travel partner RG partnered with in Peru were absolutely first class: everything happened like clockwork with local guides who were professional, informative, kind and always went the extra mile. We had genuine 24/7 contact with their Peruvian head office too, which eliminated a great deal of potential stress and prevented a number of logistical mishaps in circumstances outside their control. We would definitely recommend RG and are certainly going to use them again for our next big adventure!”

I got exactly what I wanted, recommendations, tours, transportation arrangements etc. The local operator was very good at back and forth exchanges, asked great questions to help with recommendations that suited our travel plans and style. The local tour arranger, Nick, also checked on us multiple times via Whatsapp during the trip to ensure things were going as planned. He also had great tips for foods to try, and insider information. If you are planning a trip to Colombia, we would recommend Rough Guides but would suggest you don’t need a guide for the Salt Cathedral or the Thermal Spa (Santa Rosa). “The tour advisor was extremely helpful and helped us to build a bespoke tour. However, what actually happened was not exactly what we thought we had booked. We had booked a 5 day 4 night trip to the Peruvian Amazon Jungle and were expecting to have all 4 nights in one place, we had to transfer to a second lodge in the final night in order to do one of the excursions that we had booked, we only found out about this when we arrived in the first lodge. We had also booked a trip to a chocolate plantation to see the whole process from growing the cacao beans to producing a chocolate bar. Our lodge did not seem to know that we had done this and had us booked for a fishing expedition. We did neither in the end, but the (trainee) tour guide arranged for us to have a chocolate preparation/cooking session in stead at the lodge. Not what we had booked. The level of English for the tour guide was also very poor, which did not help our overall experience. Having said that, we did have a good time in the trip.”

“The itinerary covered all the places we wanted to visit and it was great to have the internal flights, transport and logistics organised for us. The arrangements put in place worked very well and saved us a lot of time and hassle, enabling us to enjoy the trip even more. Overall we had a great time. The one point for improvement was the choice of some of the hotels we were allocated. Many of them were really more suited to and dealt mostly with large groups of travellers so the two of us did feel rather "second best" and squeezed at times as we competed for service (and even food) with large coach parties. Smaller, more boutique style places (like those generally recommended in the Rough Guide itself) would have been better for us.”

“Our trip to Ecuador spanned a variety of regions from Galapagos to Yasuni, ending at the Volcanic region of Ecuador. This complex 2 week trip with young kids was made possible thanks to Rough Guides and their Ecuador partner. Instead of pushing back on our requests, they accommodated all our needs, staying in touch throughout the planning process. We have booked previous trips with Rough Guides as well, and they even appreciated us as repeat travelers. A shoutout to Tamer and Maria Jose for their attention and support during the planning process as well as during the trip. As with any trip, there were minor hurdles and issues here and there, Maria was regularly seeking feedback and helping either resolve the issues, or provide complementary dinner as a token. All the guides were very friendly and accommodating. But we were especially impressed with Daniel for Quito and surrounding areas and Jose for the Yasuni experience. Daniel was passionate about sharing his love for Ecuador with us. He helped us through long, tiring journeys ensuring that kids felt cared for. Jose from Yasuni Cultural Center went out of the way to ensure that my little kids are able to enjoy the wilderness of the Amazon basin. Overall, Rough Guides will definitely be on my radar for next travel.”

“This was our first booking with Insight Guides and we will be using them again! Our coordinator Tamer and Maria Jose were super quick to get back to us. He responded to all our queries and offered alternative suggestions. He also made arrangements for video calls. He continually stayed connected while on our trip ensuring everything was going to our satisfaction. Super customer service. The ground team he coordinated for our different adventures in Peru were just as kind and professional.”

“My husband and I (80 and 79) just returned from a 47-day trip to Peru. What a great experience: Lima, Ballesta Islands, Ica, Huacachina, Arequipa, Colca Canyon (and condors!), Puno, train to Cusco, Machu Pichu and the Sacred Valley, and finally an Amazon cruise. Rough Guides planned the entire trip. Tamer and Maria Jose, who is their local travel expert for Peru, listened carefully to what we wanted, created a plan for us, modified it as we re-thought things, and then booked all the lodging, internal transfers, and a few tours. The boutique hotels were wonderful. For the most part, the transfers from place to place went smoothly. Everyone was attentive to our needs. However, connecting up with our guides in Aguas Calientes (we found the hotel on our own) and at Machu Pichu was difficult, largely a result of holiday crowds. If we were doing it again, we would have arranged to spend more time in Machu Pichu perhaps even staying at the Park for 1 or 2 nights. The 7-night Amazon cruise on La Perla was spectacular. The lodging, food, naturalist guides, crew, wildlife viewing were amazing. A nice way to end the trip. Highly recommend. Thank you, Tamer!”

“We just returned from a 2 week trip to Ecuador and visited the capital city, Amazon basin and the Galapagos. Tamer is world class and assembled a perfect itinerary. He checked in with us constantly ensuring we knew all the details about our upcoming adventures. Tamer also connected us with the most wonderful guides and experts- Alejandro, Sebastian and Remi (Namo Wildlife Reserve). They were incredible, accommodating and made the experience one we will remember forever. Thank you from the Barbato’s!”

“Having guides for the multiple activities was truly helpful, we would not have been able to navigate the trip with out their coordination. The whole trip was well planned out by Rough Guides. ”

“Our trip to Peru was organised brilliantly by Raquel and Tamer. The itinerary was perfect and the transportation and accommodation arrangements were great too. Raquel was always available for any help we needed at whatever time. She was checking in on us at regular intervals and making sure our journey was seamless. I would highly recommend Tamer and Raquel as your contacts if you are looking to visit Peru any time soon. Thanks so much both!”

“Rough guides curated the perfect experience for my family. I cannot thank Tamer and the team enough from Rough Guides - we just returned from a two week adventure Quito, Amazon & Galapagos. And he was there every step of the way before, during & after. Answering all of questions supporting my requests to ensure we created the most magical experience for my family. He went above and beyond to ensure that my 9 -year-old who was celebrating his bday while we were away, had a birthday cake and a lovely dinner. The guides that he recommended were so knowledgeable and helpful. And I felt like I could truly relax instead of having to worry about all the logistics. Thank you again so much for making our adventure truly priceless. ❤️”

“Tamer and Maria Jose from Rough Guides was more than helpful through the whole process from planning to execution. Tamar kept in touch with us constantly and even when another company, a cruise line, we were working with let us down while in Ecuador, Tamar and his local guide took up the slack and helped us amazingly. In addition to Tamar, the local guide, Sebastian Carrera, was amazing. In short, he was great!! Please see our review of him on Trip Advisor. Overall, an amazing trip that happened thanks to Rough Guides. ”

“The organization of my trip was complicated with many internal flights, transfers and tours at 4 locations through out Peru and every time our drivers and guides were on time. Tours were run with professionalism and when any problems arose the communication from both the main rough guides liaison and the local guides were prompt and they were able to solve the issue quickly.”

“Another amazing custom made trip to Peru from rough guides. The hotels and tours that was booked for us was great. All the tour guides were knowledgeable and helpful and even took beautiful pictures for us. If I have one suggestion to make is that our tour for the rainbow mountain, the communication could have been better. Because everyone has different levels of fitness we didn’t all make the hike at the same pace. It would have been better t tell the group before hand what time to meet up back down the van. And although we were dropped off near our hotel after the tour I expected to be dropped off at our hotel as we were picked up from there. The reason given was that the van was too big to come through the alley of our hotel which I found a bit strange as it was the same van that picked us up in the morning. Otherwise everything else was great. Communication with the booking of the whole trip was great and they were even checking up on us to make sure that everything was going smoothly. Thank you again cx”

“We recently completed a wonderful trip through Ecuador, including Quito, Cotopaxi, the Amazon, and the Galápagos Islands, and I cannot say enough good things about Jose and his team. From the very beginning, Jose was a pleasure to work with. Planning a trip like this can be challenging when you have never been to the destination before. There are countless emails, phone calls, questions, and decisions that need to be made before you finally commit to an itinerary. Throughout the entire process, Jose was knowledgeable, responsive, and incredibly patient. His communication was outstanding. Once we arrived in Ecuador, the service exceeded our expectations. Jose checked in with us regularly, often sending text messages to make sure everything was going smoothly and to see if we needed anything. He was always available to answer questions and provide assistance. It was reassuring to know that someone was looking out for us every step of the way. Everything was exactly as promised. The accommodations were excellent and in great locations. Every transfer was seamless and professionally handled. The guides we worked with throughout the trip were knowledgeable, friendly, accommodating, and clearly passionate about their country. The overall flow of the itinerary was very well thought out, allowing us to experience a tremendous amount without ever feeling rushed. A special mention goes to Napo Wildlife Center, which was absolutely terrific and one of the highlights of the trip. We also loved our time in Cotopaxi, Quito, and throughout the rest of Ecuador. Every destination offered something unique and memorable. If I were to suggest one thing to future travelers, it would be this: if your schedule allows, try to spend two or three days on Isabela Island in the Galápagos. While all of the excursions we took were excellent, well-organized, and offered incredible wildlife encounters, Isabela provides a more relaxed atmosphere and some truly outstanding wildlife experiences. The rest of the Galápagos is amazing, but if you can fit Isabela into your itinerary, I believe it is well worth the extra time. Overall, Jose is a true professional, and I highly recommend both him and his company. We had an amazing experience from start to finish. Great trip, great company, great guides, and an outstanding experience working with Jose.”

My connection to tourism began in the landscapes and quiet traditions of the Córdoba countryside, where I grew up. Being surrounded by nature and local culture taught me early on to value authentic places and people.

Travel added to this passion. Exploring Argentina and other parts of the Americas from a young age sparked my curiosity for tourism and the transformative power of experiencing new destinations. Through an academic exchange, I also gained hands-on experience in tourism logistics and MICE events in Argentina and the United States. Today, I’m driven by a genuine passion for creating meaningful and memorable journeys.

10-day couple trip to Chile

“This was my family’s first time taking a personalized tour and working with RoughGuides. We choose RoughGuides after reading reviews on multiple travel-related sights. RoughGuides has direct staff and contracted guides in many countries. Our trip planner was based in Ecuador although our trip was to Chile. RoughGuides utilizes a web chat system to manage planning staff and traveler communications. The traveler provides an initial summary of trip goals and the RoughGuides planner starts building a plan/itinerary for the trip. The process was straightforward but would be easier and more efficient if RoughGuides had a detailed “traveler profile questionnaire.” For example, our family prefers quiet mornings until about 10 AM. This fact didn’t seem relevant until draft plans/itineraries continued to have touring activities start between 8 and 9 AM. Overall our family was impressed by the quality of the RoughGuides team and the local travel guides/drivers who RoughGuides employs. All of our guides spoke understandable to excellent English and were well-versed in local facts, histories, and culture. One of the ways our family enjoys the local flavor of destinations is via food tours. We usually include at least one food tour in our itinerary. This experience sold our family on personalized touring. We’ll continue using personalized touring when traveling to destinations where our native language, English, is less common.”
