Writing for Rough Guides

Rough Guides works with expert authors around the world and we’re always on the lookout for new writers and researchers to get involved. If you think you have what it takes to join our team – in-depth knowledge of a destination, writing experience, reliability, attention to detail, resourcefulness – please send us your CV, a cover letter with your areas of expertise and any relevant writing samples/links. Due to the high number of applications we prioritise those with proven travel writing experience. For website articles, please include a pitch relevant to our readership and make sure we have not already covered the subject.

We also encourage new book proposals so if you would like to compile one, please send: details of content, chapter by chapter; an analysis of the competition; how your book would be different and better than the other guides currently available; some details about yourself and why you would be the best person to write such a guide; and a short sample piece of writing as if extracted from your proposed book.

Proposals and writing samples/letters of inquiry should be sent to [email protected].
