Where to go in Jordan in March

March hits a good balance in Jordan. The sun’s out, wildflowers bloom, and you can cover both cities and deserts without worrying about heat or road conditions. Here are some of the best places to visit in Jordan

Petra

Petra is more comfortable in March, especially for walking longer routes. You can explore the Siq and the Treasury early in the day, then climb to the Monastery without the heat slowing you down. Trails to the High Place of Sacrifice or back routes into the site are clearer this time of year, and Petra by Night events run regularly. The site is big, but March gives you enough daylight and calm to explore it well.

Wadi Rum

Wadi Rum is dry and cool in March, with clear skies for stargazing and enough warmth for overnight camping. The red rock formations glow in the afternoon sun, and tours by jeep or camel run without interruption. Bedouin camps are open and welcoming, and hikes to places like Jebel Um Adaami are possible if you start early. It’s a great time to experience the desert without it feeling empty or overrun.

Dead Sea and Amman

The Dead Sea is mild in March, with water warm enough for floating and fewer visitors than in high season. Spa resorts and day passes are easier to book. In Amman, you can wander between Roman ruins, mosques, and museums without rushing. Local cafés stay open late, and small galleries start hosting spring exhibitions. This is also a good time to visit the Baptism Site and Jordan River before Easter brings larger crowds.
