The average high temperature in Corfu through September is 28ºC, with 17ºC the average low, and an average sea temperature of 24ºC.  

For comparison, August’s average high is around 33ºC, while October in Corfu sees average highs of 23ºC, average lows of 18ºC, and an average sea temperature of 22ºC.

First things first — Corfu’s mountain ranges mean it sees more rain than other Greek islands in general. In addition, September sees quite an increase of rainfall in Corfu from the preceding months, with an average of 40mm over eight rainy days.

That said, given that October sees an average of 120mm of rain across 11 rainy days, September remains relatively dry.

Is September a good time to visit Corfu?

Though it’s true that Corfu captivates travellers around the year — thanks to its beautiful beaches, verdant mountains, tasty food and lively nightlife — September is an especially rewarding time to visit.

Secondly, while the huge crowds of the peak summer season have departed, the island remains lively. Hotels, resorts, bars and restaurants remain open and still have a buzz about them, but in a less frenzied fashion than you’ll find in July and August.

What to wear in Corfu in September

Though the daytime temperatures are hot enough for the likes of shorts, sun dresses, and swimwear for the beach — you’ll want to bring warmer clothes for the chillier evenings when temperatures drop to around 17C. Think cardigans, pullovers, long trousers and wraps.

You’ll also need to wear sun hats and sunscreen, and it’s also worth bringing a brolly and light waterproof jacket.
