The option of travelling from Cancun to Tulum by bus is a convenient and budget-friendly way to experience the stunning beauty of Mexico's Caribbean coastline.
This journey takes you along a scenic route that offers breathtaking views of the turquoise waters of the Caribbean Sea on one side and the lush tropical jungle on the other. You can reach Tulum in two ways: from Cancun Airport and from downtown Cancun.
Bus from Cancun Airport to Tulum
If you are travelling to Cancun International Airport (CUN), you can go straight to Tulum. Once off the plane, proceed to the ground transport area where you will find the ticket office and the boarding point for the ADO buses that will take you to Tulum.
Buying a ticket for an ADO bus is a simple process and the helpful staff will assist you in choosing the most suitable departure time. Once you have your ticket, wait in the designated area for ADO buses.
When the bus departs Cancun Airport, you'll be taken on a scenic journey along Highway 307. After about 2-2.5 hours, you will arrive at the Tulum bus station, conveniently located for further exploration of the city.
Bus from Downtown Cancun to Tulum
Also if you are already in Cancun you can go to Tulum directly from the city. Head to the ADO bus station, conveniently located in the centre of Cancun. You can purchase your ticket either at the ticket office or, for greater convenience, through online booking.
By selecting a departure time that is convenient for you, you have the flexibility to manage your itinerary. ADO offers various departure options throughout the day.
After purchasing your ticket, proceed to the designated boarding area for the bus. ADO buses are known for their comfort, ensuring a comfortable journey.
The route to Tulum runs along Highway 307, giving passengers breathtaking views of the Caribbean Sea and lush tropical landscapes. After about 2-2.5 hours of travelling, you'll arrive at the Tulum bus station, conveniently located within the city limits.
From here you can easily continue to explore the unspoilt beaches, historical sites or the vibrant centre of Tulum.
