Day01

Golden Circle

Start your Iceland travel adventure with the Golden Circle, an iconic introduction to the country’s geology and natural power. Visit Thingvellir National Park in the rift between the Eurasian and North American plates, continue to the Geysir geothermal area to watch Strokkur erupt every 8 to 10 minutes, and end at Gullfoss, the famous golden falls.

Round out the day with the vivid Kerid crater lake and a stop in the hot springs town of Hveragerdi.

Day02

South Coast waterfalls and black sand beaches

Explore the south coast for a day of iconic waterfalls and black sand beaches. Walk behind Seljalandsfoss, photograph Skogafoss as misty rainbows rise from the spray, and take in the Reynisdrangar sea stacks from Reynisfjara.

Continue to Dyrholaey’s cliffs for puffins in season and sweeping coastal views, with Eyjafjallajökull, Hekla, and Katla dominating the horizon as you follow Road 1.

Day03

Skaftafell, glacier lagoons, and Fjadrargljufur

Skaftafell National Park and Vatnajokull’s glacier tongues are a highlight of any Iceland itinerary, with tailor-made options for hiking and photography. Follow an easy trail to the Skaftafellsjokull glacier tongue, continue to the photogenic Svartifoss waterfall, and add the moss-lined Fjadrargljufur canyon for a quieter landscape stop.

End at Jokulsarlon glacier lagoon and Breidamerkurfjara Diamond Beach for drifting icebergs and the chance to spot seals along the shore.

Day04

The Eastfjords

Explore the Eastfjords, where towering mountains drop into scenic fjords and fishing villages set a slow, local rhythm. Stop in Seydisfjordur for culture and coastal charm, then continue to remote Mjoifjordur for quiet roads and big views.

Base yourself around Egilsstadir beside Lake Lagarfljot, stroll through Hallormsstadaskogur forest, and hear the region’s lake monster folklore. For a more active day, add the hike to Hengifoss waterfall and a visit to Studlagil canyon to admire its dramatic basalt columns and bright blue glacial river.

Day05

The wonders of Lake Myvatn

Discover the Lake Myvatn area, one of the best places to visit in Iceland for volcanic scenery and geothermal wonders. Visit the bubbling geothermal fields of Hverir and Leirhnjukur, wander the dramatic lava formations at Dimmuborgir, and stop at the Skutustadagigar pseudo craters on the lake’s edge.

Take in the craters of Viti and Hverfjall, then finish at Grjotagja, a lava cave with a geothermal spring featured in Game of Thrones.

Day06

Dettifoss, Jokulsargljufur and Husavik

Visit Dettifoss, then continue to Asbyrgi’s horseshoe-shaped canyon and the turquoise Botnstjorn pond. Follow the 25 km Jokulsargljufur glacial canyon to Vesturdalur to see Hljodaklettar’s striking basalt columns and the colorful Raudholar hills.

End the day in Husavik, the whale watching capital of many Iceland trips, and unwind at the GeoSea geothermal sea baths.

Day07

North West Iceland, Akureyri and Godafoss

Explore North West Iceland starting in Akureyri, the lively heart of the region, with a charming downtown, excellent museums, and the Lystigardurinn botanical gardens. Continue to Godafoss, the picture-perfect Waterfall of the Gods, for classic photos and short walks.

From here, choose your route. Follow the scenic Troll Peninsula coastline to the colourful fishing village of Siglufjordur, or detour to the Vatnsnes Peninsula to see the Hvitserkur sea stack, the Borgarvirki fortress, and the Seal Center.

Day08

Reykjavik City

See Reykjavik at your own pace with tailor-made options. Head up Hallgrimskirkja’s tower for panoramic views, then browse Laugavegur for shops and cafés.

Take a quiet break by Tjornin pond and stroll the old harbour, finishing with waterfront photo stops at Harpa Concert Hall and the Solfar Sun Sculpture.

Day09

Departure day

On departure day, enjoy a relaxed final morning in Reykjavik. After breakfast, take a short walk through the city center or along the waterfront for last photos and a final coffee, then pick up any final souvenirs on Laugavegur. Transfer to Keflavik Airport in good time for check-in and your flight home.
