Day01

Reykjavik to Egilsstaðir and Eastfjords villages

The Eastfjords, Skaftafell National Park, and glacier lagoons

Travel south along the Ring Road from Egilsstaðir, a scenic transfer day in your Iceland itinerary, with stops that match your pace. Stretch your legs in Hallormsstaðaskógur or on the Hengifoss trail, then continue to Stuðlagil Canyon for basalt columns and glacial blue water.

From there, drive on toward Vatnajökull and Skaftafell for a short hike, either to the Skaftafellsjökull glacier tongue or to Svartifoss. If time and daylight allow, finish with Jökulsárlón and Diamond Beach, with Fjaðrárgljúfur as an optional detour.
