I grew up in a country that couldn’t be more different to Iceland - India. But, as life would have it, I fell in love with an Icelander, got married and have been living in Iceland for over 15 years now.
We established our tour operator after celebrating our wedding in 2010. Guests from all over the world wanted to come and join us on this joyous occasion and through arranging travels for all of them, we both found our passion: showing the real Iceland to travelers worldwide. Iceland is a magical place and we have traveled up and down the country repeatedly, making sure our itineraries are always up-to-date and our maps are suited for all travelers. The best way to discover Iceland is renting a car and driving yourself, stopping by attractions along the way: volcanoes, geysers, hiking trails and much more await those that come. In summer, we get up to 22 hours of daylight and in winter, Iceland turns into a winter wonderland with plenty of snow. ‘While in Iceland, do as the Icelanders do’ is our motto, so we make sure your itinerary is fully packed with authentic experiences, really getting to know the quirky Icelandic culture.
Our trips are best suited to independent travelers looking to discover Iceland in their own car.

Traveling widened my horizons and completely changed the way I live my life. During my travels I was lucky enough to get a job in Iceland, and I must admit, I was completely unaware of what was ahead of me when I first set foot in the country. Working in the tourism industry allowed me to meet with travelers like myself every day, and I soon had the urge to travel all around the country on my own.
My specialty are tailor-made trips all around the country, but with a particular emphasis in the Snæfellsnes peninsula, the Westfjords and Lake Mývatn, as I have not only visited but also lived in these places.

With over a decade in the tourism industry—including years as cabin crew—I have planned trips for, and worked alongside, every type of traveler. This experience makes me obsessively detail-oriented and equipped to handle the logistics for any dream trip. I specialize in crafting completely personalized itineraries, whether you prefer a self-drive adventure, a private guided tour, or a small-group journey.

I was born in Spain and grew up surrounded by the rhythms and values of nature. My first experience with the Authentic North was in the winter of 2006. Wow, 20 years already since that incredible winter surrounded by snow, dressed like a polar bear, going back and forth on snowshoes and skis in search of the Northern Lights under the Arctic night! Since then, my relationship with the Arctic has continually evolved. As a professional mountain guide, nature lover, and local expert, I feel very comfortable helping travelers and nature enthusiasts explore and discover the incredible gems of Iceland.

With a background as an interpreter and a passion for languages and cultures, I’ve lived and worked on every continent before finding my way to Iceland, a land like no other. I spent my first years in the southeast region working as a guide, exploring the country deeply and uncovering its hidden gems. With over 10 years in the tourism industry, I have now developed a deep understanding of Iceland’s spirit. Today, I’m excited to help travelers create tailor-made trips that capture the true essence of Iceland.

What travellers says about local travel agents

“We used the Rough Guides referral tool to inquire about self-guided trips in Iceland. We received 2 proposals very quickly, both quite reasonable. We went with Traveo, who organized an excellent trip, with regular communication. The only issue was the weather (including one day of Orange wind warnings and closed roads) but I guess that was out of their control. . .”

“Eric with Rough Guides crafted the perfect trip! My husband and I did the Golden Circle, the Ring Road, and the Diamond Circle. Yes, we took our time and it is so worth it! We loved doing the Blue Lagoon which is quite busy and fun. Be sure to go into ALL the saunas, take a cool shower and splurge on the moisturizing mask. My face looked glowing! Hit the Lava Restaurant for an incredible chill setting and incredible food. We did the mushroom soup and a salad, followed by an Icelandic dessert and coffee. Super delicious. Other highlights for us: Silfra dry suit snorkel trip, glacier walk, glacier helicopter ride, aurora trip, stopping to view all the fantastic waterfalls, geothermal and volcanic sites, historical sites, museums, restaurant recommendations, and more. Check out the GeoSea Baths in Husavik! Incredible views from a spa! Eric also added on last-minute requests and was able to pivot for us when a vendor canceled on us. It was a relief to not have to deal with those details! Our only regret is that we didn't go for one month! Thank you, Eric!”

“Our family trip to Iceland was amazing. Rough Guides/the expert helped us plan everything from places to stay, things to do and where to go. They sent a detailed itinerary which kept everything organized and on track.”

20/10/2024“We had the most thoughtful and helpful advice in preparation for our trip to Iceland from our guide, Eric. I can recommend his services without reservation. Our holiday was a huge success in large part due to Eric's guidance. In particular we valued his recommendations of out-of-the-way spots that we could never have found otherwise. Very often we found ourselves feeling gratitude for all Eric's forethought and insider knowledge. There was only one minor glitch with a hotel booking in a remote location. When we reported this on our return, it was dealt with prompt reimbursement of a payment made. Our spec was a trip to the Westfjords off the beaten track using local services where possible. This was taken seriously and an itinerary was delivered that met our needs precisely. We were grateful for the careful discussion beforehand that delivered this successful outcome. I hope others will be able to benefit from the services of this very thoughtful and well-informed guide, Lucy A.”

30/07/2024“I just finished a 7 night trip around the ring round in Iceland that was organized by Jenny. It was an amazing trip that exceeded my expectations. The car was excelled and the accommodations for the most part were lovely. A couple of things that should be looked at, one letting people know about national holidays in Iceland, one of the days on our trip was a national holiday and was tough to get groceries. Also, the maps weren’t always great but that’s understandable with google maps. The itineraries were packed with options which was nice. All in all a great trip”

“Awesome trip with a thoughtful itinerary that was planned excellently. Made for an effortless vacation. It was well tailored to our needs as a family of 5 with young children. Thanks for an incredible experience”

19/08/2025“We were connected up with Iceland Offbeat by Rough Guides, as I wanted to have an itinerary and accommodation booked for a week in Iceland and was finding it hard to plan. Eric our travel planner was excellent, and produced a great itinerary consulting me on what we wanted and how long we had. He then booked all our accommodation and hire car and some activities. We had an amazing week travelling round Iceland, the whole thing went like clockwork. Eric is a specialist for Iceland and his knowledge completely made our trip. I recommend him and that you follow his suggestions and you'll have a brilliant trip!”

“I never thought that I would make it to iceland with so little fuss . Èric was amazing in helping me plan my trip and the itinerary provided and hotels booked were all good places. All my questions were answered. I only had to study the itinerary like on a few weekend before my trip to see which are the places that we are going , and also look through the optionals to see which i really want to go to . Despite the weather, i really enjoyed my trip . He also helped me find a local photographer for my photoshoot in the Capital . Thank you for a wonderful trip .”

05/09/2024“The easiest, quickest answer is that the trip was amazing. Summary: Seeing Iceland was a bucket list item that I feel fortunate to have checked off, and I consider the entire experience to have been life-affirming. My education and entire career have been in the geosciences, and for anyone interested in earth history and processes, Iceland is clearly an earth-lover's playground, where everything is a feast for the eyes, not just the "highlights" (the planned stops) but all along the drives from point to point. It is fascinating that Iceland's landmass is so young when it leaves the impression of being so ancient, so primal. Seeing Icelandic horses and sheep literally everywhere and viewing all the farms, many nestled below a waterfall, takes one back to simpler, serene times. The Icelandic people are so nice, and I am both amazed and thankful that everyone speaks fluent English. I quickly became acclimated to the colder temperatures and, in fact, found it invigorating. The early September weather was wonderful, with just moments here and there where the wind gusts were intense. I would go back to Iceland again and again if that were possible, but I do plan at least one more trip, so that my family can experience what I did.”

14/08/2023“We had a wonderful trip in Iceland, from Isafjordur to Reykjavik. I am very glad we went north to south. It allowed us to discover the beautiful wilderness of Iceland with few tourists. The closest to Reykjavik the more tourists, especially in the golden circle. Even there, the organization and direction of crowds were such that it was perfectly acceptable, but our experience was really enhanced by starting from the calm beauty of the north towards the south. We were surprised by the roads, the mud: some roads appeared perilous to us ( Bolfjall mountain, where we were caught in fog at mid slope, and the descent to Ytri yunga beach very muddy and slippery). Anyway, we managed, and we are very grateful to all the suggestions. Gorgeous landscapes, cliffs and villages. We feel that in few days we saw so many diverse beauties: lava fields, volcanoes, cliffs, waterfalls. A real glimpse at the geographic landscapes of Iceland. The itinerary was great, well explained and beautiful, although we have decided that, for our next trip, we’d rather stay in a place 2 days and visit from there, so we get a break from driving every day. We decided to move the blue lagoon visit to the day before our departure, instead of as designed just before our departure. Even if it was a back and forth from Reykjavik, I was grateful to be able to scrub all the salt from my hair and to have time to dry my bathing suit before putting it back in my suitcase. I just had to write one email, and the lady in charge immediately responded and changed our tickets. Thank you for that. The blue lagoon was not what we liked too crowded, and not natural, maybe an alternative to a regular naturally heated public pool where people from Reykjavik go could be suggested. When we got to our apartment in Reykjavik, we couldn’t find any email with the entrance code. We call the suggested number and Michael (?) responded ( Sunday at 8pm) and looked for it. Efficient and extremely nice. Thank you so much for a great experience in such a short time ( and all the hotels were great).”
