Average daily temperatures in July
July is one of the hottest and sunniest months in Germany, and sun protection is a must. Berlin sees daytime highs climbing to around 76°F (24°C), with nighttime lows averaging 59°F (15°C). As the temperature rises, this can trigger summer storms.
In the south, including Munich, highs frequently reach 73°F to 79°F (23°C to 26°C), while nighttime temperatures hover around 57°F (14°C). Alpine areas may remain a bit cooler, especially at higher elevations.
Northern coastal cities like Hamburg experience highs from 68°F to 73°F (20°C to 23°C), with lows near 56°F (13°C). Breezes help keep temperatures comfortable, especially near the sea. In the central and western regions, including the Rhine Valley and Frankfurt, expect highs between 75°F and 82°F (24°C and 28°C) and lows around 60°F (16°C).
What about the crowds and cost?
Since July is the peak tourist season in Germany, it should not be surprising that the cities and attractions are filled with both locals and international visitors. If you’re planning a trip to Germany during this month, expect busy crowds – particularly around the lakes, the North Sea coast, and scenic routes like the Romantic Road.
Especially in cities and resort towns, accommodation is in high demand, therefore, reservations must be made far in advance. Even though travel costs are at their highest and long lines are likely to form at key attractions, the festive energy and cultural events make July an appealing, albeit hectic, month to visit.
