Average daily temperatures in April
As the amount of sunshine increases and the days grow longer, the temperatures in Germany in April begin to feel comfortably warm. This can, however, vary by a few degrees from one region to another.
The average temperature in Berlin rises to about 55°F (13°C) during the day, while nights cool to around 39°F (4°C). In southern areas, where Munich is located, highs are roughly between 52°F and 59°F (11°C and 15°C), while lows range from 36°F to 41°F (2°C to 5°C).
Northern Germany, which takes in cities like Hamburg and Lübeck, tends to be a bit colder and windier, with daytime highs around 50°F to 54°F (10°C to 12°C) and nighttime lows near 37°F (3°C). The best spring weather is found in the central and western regions, including Frankfurt and Cologne. Daytime highs sit between 52°F and 61°F (11°C and 16°C) and dip to 39°F to 45°F (4°C to 7°C) at night.
What about the crowds and cost?
If timed well, April can offer a vibrant but not overwhelming travel experience, with moderate crowds and mid-range pricing. If you’re planning a trip to Germany and looking for a balance between pleasant weather and manageable tourism levels, this month is a smart choice.
Germany does witness a gradually increasing number of tourists in April, especially if Easter comes around during this month. As the weather continues to improve and outdoor activities become more frequent, cities such as Berlin, Frankfurt, Cologne, and Hamburg begin to fill up.
As demand grows, costs for accommodations and guided tours start to rise slightly. However, it’s still far from peak season, and deals can be found, particularly outside of the Easter vacation weeks.
