Average daily temperatures in February
The month of February remains firmly in summer, with some of the warmest and most stable temperatures of the year. What about the crowd and cost?
Traveling to New Zealand in February offers all the high-season benefits but without the peak-season crush. This is still a popular month to travel, although it’s a little less hectic than January. Many local vacationers return home, but overseas travel remains strong thanks to the great weather.
You’ll find that many of the best places to visit in New Zealand — like Queenstown, Taupō, and the Bay of Islands — continue to have inflated rates for accommodations, tours, and car rentals. On the other hand, availability is better than during the busy January vacation periods. However, reservations should still be made in advance, especially for tours or boutique lodgings.
