Day02

Ihlara Valley day tour

Ihlara Valley is one of Cappadocia’s oldest inhabited landscapes, shaped over centuries as a natural refuge with water, shelter, and fertile riverbanks. Today, it is also considered one of the best places to visit in Turkey for walkers, with a dramatic 14 km canyon route traced by the Melendiz River and lined with rock-carved churches and dwellings.

Enjoy a scenic hike through the valley, typically 3 to 4 km with the option to extend up to 9 km, passing historic chapels along the trail. Pause for a relaxed outdoor lunch by the river in Belisirma Village, then continue to Selime Monastery to feel the atmosphere of early Christian life.

Complete the day with a visit to Derinkuyu Underground City, the largest underground settlement in the region.
