This is a rewarding introduction to Tanzania travel, with wide open scenery, expert guiding, and excellent wildlife viewing from the start.

Explore the savanna dotted with ancient baobab trees, seasonal swamps, and the Tarangire River, a vital water source for elephants, giraffes, bushbucks, hartebeests, and rare species such as fringe-eared oryx and gerenuk.

Day05

Mara River migration safari

After breakfast, set out for another full day game drive in the Northern Serengeti around the Mara River. Follow the legendary herds as they gather on the riverbanks, where dramatic wildebeest crossings can unfold in moments of extraordinary tension and movement.

From August to October, the Kogatende area often offers some of the best chances to see the mega herds near the Mara River. Depending on fresh grazing and herd movement, crossings may happen in different directions, sometimes more than once.

In the evening, return to camp for a relaxed bonfire, dinner, and an unforgettable night in the wilderness.

quotes

For the Mara River area, patience is everything. The herds may gather at the banks for hours before crossing, or suddenly move away and return later. Trust your guide’s timing and avoid rushing between viewpoints. Keep your camera ready, but also take moments to watch without the lens. The tension, dust, and movement are part of what makes this experience unforgettable.

Day06

Seronera Valley safari and Ngorongoro Crater rim

After breakfast, your Tanzania Serengeti safari tour continues across Serengeti National Park, with game drives through the wildlife-rich Seronera Valley. Watch for predators drawn to the area’s water sources during the dry season, and look out for elephants, giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, and big cats across the open savanna.

Pause for a picnic lunch in the heart of the Serengeti before continuing toward the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. As you reach the crater rim, take in sweeping views of the vast Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and natural sanctuary for thousands of animals.

Ngorongoro Crater
Day07

Ngorongoro Crater safari and return to Arusha

Rise early for a spectacular descent into the Ngorongoro Crater, the world’s largest intact caldera and one of Tanzania’s most remarkable wildlife sanctuaries. With your expert guide, search for the Big Five, including the rare black rhino, along with large herds of wildebeest and zebra.

Look out for hyenas, waterbuck, bushbuck, eland, and rich birdlife as you explore the crater floor. Pause for a picnic lunch surrounded by dramatic crater walls, then leave the caldera in the afternoon for the scenic drive back to Arusha, where your journey comes to a memorable close.
