Day01

Arrival in Kalpitiya

On arrival, you will be welcomed at the airport and transferred to Kalpitiya, with a scenic stop in Negombo to begin your Sri Lanka travel experience.

Known as Little Rome, Negombo is a lively fishing town famous for fresh seafood, cinnamon, coconut products, and traditional crafts. Explore its bustling fish markets and tranquil colonial lagoons with a local guide before continuing towards the coast.

Arrive in Kalpitiya and check in at Dolphin Beach for your overnight stay.

Anuradhapura and Habarana

Begin the day with an early morning boat safari in search of playful spinner dolphins and, in season from November to April, majestic Blue and Sperm Whales.

Continue to Anuradhapura to explore sacred Isurumuniya, Sri Mahabodhiya, and the great stupa of Ruwanwelisaya, before visiting the serene 5th-century Aukana Buddha, carved from a single granite rock face.

Sigiriya and Dambulla

Enjoy a tailor-made day of cultural discovery. After breakfast, climb Sigiriya Rock Fortress, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and explore its ancient royal ruins, vibrant frescoes, and the famed Mirror Wall as you ascend to sweeping summit views.

In the afternoon, visit the Dambulla Cave Temple, dating back to the first century B.C., where monumental Buddha statues and richly painted murals fill the sacred caves. Return to Habarana for an overnight stay at Cinnamon Lodge.

Polonnaruwa and Minneriya

After breakfast, explore Polonnaruwa, one of the best places to visit in Sri Lanka and the island’s medieval capital from the 11th to 13th centuries. Wander among remarkably preserved royal ruins set along the shores of Parakrama Samudraya, where ancient temples, statues, and palaces reveal Sri Lanka’s regal past.

In the evening, head out on a jeep safari in Minneriya National Park, famous for its large elephant gatherings as well as leopards, sambar deer, toque monkeys, and abundant birdlife. Return for an overnight stay at Cinnamon Lodge, Habarana.

Kandy to Nuwara Eliya
