Today you will summit Kirigalpotta, known as Sri Lanka’s K1 and the country’s second-highest peak. Meet at the Horton Plains base for a detailed briefing before setting out on a challenging guided hike paced to suit your ability. Proper hiking gear is essential for the steep and often wet terrain.

The route traverses open grasslands, cloud forest, marsh, and rocky stretches within the Horton Plains Sanctuary. Keep watch for sambar deer and, with luck, elusive leopard, bear monkey, and the striking rhino-horned lizard along the way.
