Day03

Weligama and Galle

Travel along the southern coast to Weligama on your way to Galle. Considered one of the best places to visit in Sri Lanka for its vibrant coastal culture, Weligama Beach is known for gentle surf breaks, sailing boats, and the iconic stilt fishermen who balance above the waves in a centuries-old tradition. Stroll the shoreline, capture photographs of this unique practice, or try a short surf lesson in the warm waters.

Continue to Galle, where Dutch colonial architecture blends seamlessly with contemporary South Asian life. Walk the ancient ramparts, explore streets lined with verandas and historic bastions, and soak in sweeping ocean views before continuing to Thalpe for your overnight stay.

Both inspiring and educational, the visit offers an authentic connection to Sri Lanka’s coastal wildlife conservation. This evening, stay in Bentota, where coastal landscapes, heritage influences, and thoughtfully curated experiences come together in a relaxed seaside setting.
