Best accommodation in Moscow

Moscow has heaps of deluxe hotels catering to business travellers, but barely enough for budget travellers (some even bar foreign guests in order to skip the complex registration process). On the plus side, visitors can now compare rates on hotel websites with those being quoted by accommodation agencies, and the range of accommodation is opening up, with ever more apartments available for rent, and many of the old Soviet-style two-star dumps being refurbished to offer much better value. Always book ahead outside of October–April.
