My name is Gabriela, and I grew up in the colorful landscapes of Salta, where my love for travel and culture first began. Guided by curiosity, I’ve explored remote nature, diverse traditions, and the stories that shape each place. The more I traveled, the more I appreciated the richness of Argentina and South America. Today, I use that passion to craft meaningful journeys that reveal the region’s true soul — its flavors, sounds, landscapes, and unforgettable human connections.

“15 Day Peru & Galapagos Discovery – Culture and Wildlife This was the first trip I booked through Insight Guides and it couldn’t have turned out any better! The process began with an inquiry to IG about the type of trip and dates I was looking for to book a “dream trip” to Machu Picchu and the Galapagos Islands. I reached out about 7 months prior to the actual date of the trip and was connected with Jeferson, who put together an amazing itinerary, based on our needs and wants. Everything was taken into consideration in planning this trip for us – our price point, destinations, dates, type of hotel, special dietary needs, the preferred ship we wanted in the Galapagos, just to name a few. What I found out later is that IG sources local travel experts (Jeferson is with Responsible Travel) and this is really a nice feature. We were also introduced to Benjamin, who became our main contact for the duration of the trip. Once the original itinerary was sent, we reviewed it and made a few “tweaks” to it – sending our requests/changes to Jeferson and Benjamin. They included everything we asked for, as well as adding some very good suggestions for other things for us to do. Our trip was for a group of four and we traveled from May 21 – June 5, 2026. We began in Peru and ended in Ecuador. Everything went without a hitch – and there were many moving parts (planes, trains, automobiles/ferry and yacht). Every assigned guide and driver was excellent – courteous, punctual and all passionate about their job, making for the absolute best experiences in all the places we toured/visited. As the start of the trip became closer, we were in contact with Benjamin via WhatsApp and Zoom calls – it was so very nice to put a face to our incredible planner. Imagine our surprise when Benjamin came to the Quito airport to meet our group of four before we began the flight to the Galapagos Islands! He genuinely loves his job and his customers. Upon our return to Quito after the GP portion, we had the pleasure of meeting again with Benjamin and also Jeferson. We were so happy to meet them and talk about the wonderful trip they planned for us. They were both so incredibly caring and passionate about making sure the trip they planned for us met our expectations. I can’t say enough about the daily check-ins and following up to make sure every part of our trip went smoothly. When working with IG in your trip planning, if there are certain things you absolutely want to see or do, let them know and they will make sure to include these items. They are great in suggesting things for you to do if you want to give them free rein (they are the experts after all!) I highly recommend IG and would definitely use them again when planning my next trip.”

03/05/2026“I’ve now used Rough Guides twice first for Oman and now for LATAM and both trips have been exceptional from start to finish. Our recent LATAM itinerary was incredibly well organised despite involving multiple countries, flights, transfers, tours, and moving parts. Everything felt seamless. We were consistently checked in ahead of flights, boarding passes were shared proactively, and communication throughout the trip was excellent. Jeferson was always available when needed and incredibly responsive and helpful throughout. Some standout moments included the food tour in Lima, which was honestly one of the highlights of the trip and such a brilliant way to experience a city. Iguazu Falls and Machu Picchu were absolutely awe-inspiring, visiting both a natural wonder of the world and one of the world’s great historical wonders in the same trip felt truly magical. We did have one minor hiccup with the train to Machu Picchu, but it was handled quickly and professionally. A hotel was arranged immediately, logistics were reorganised smoothly, and everything was resolved with minimal stress on our side. That level of calm problem-solving really stood out. Overall, the trip was energising, exciting, and beautifully executed. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Rough Guides, and I’m already planning my next trip with them, Sri Lanka next! Thank you again to Jeferson and the wider team for such a memorable experience. ✨🙌🏾🙏🏾”

“Our second experience using Insight Guides made for a worry-free trip that included Cusco, Lake Titicaca and the Peruvian Amazon: transfers were always on time, flexible if we wanted to change times a bit, and drivers and guides super friendly. Of the three contact people who coordinated itineraries, I have to single out Benjamin who was so helpful, friendly and responsive. Suggestion early on that we opt for Titicaca Lodge rather than another hotel was made by our initial contact, Jeferson, and was spot on: We could not have had a better experience on a floating island so thanks to Jeferson for that advice. My advice to others: Double check the details and really pin down exactly what you are getting. The promised cooking class in Cusco was not as billed, and just involved us watching a busy kitchen prepare local cuisine for lunch -- which was good but definitely not hands-on as promised. In the Amazon we had asked twice about the level of room we were getting; asked for Comfort which was an upgrade, were promised we were getting all Premium rooms but when we got to the Rainforest Lodge we were told we had booked a Standard which was super small. The lodge upgraded us to a suite which was nice and made a huge difference. Similarly our room in Lima was so small that we practically fell over each other -- even though we were told by Insight that all our accommodation was premium (it turns out we were in the smallest, cheapest room in that hotel). We worked with Benjamin to change hotels for our final two nights which cost a bit of extra but made for a much better experience. So double check every detail that is part of the itinerary and make sure you are getting what you think you should be getting for your money. The devil is always in the details.”

12/11/2025“The tour advisor was extremely helpful and helped us to build a bespoke tour. However, what actually happened was not exactly what we thought we had booked. We had booked a 5 day 4 night trip to the Peruvian Amazon Jungle and were expecting to have all 4 nights in one place, we had to transfer to a second lodge in the final night in order to do one of the excursions that we had booked, we only found out about this when we arrived in the first lodge. We had also booked a trip to a chocolate plantation to see the whole process from growing the cacao beans to producing a chocolate bar. Our lodge did not seem to know that we had done this and had us booked for a fishing expedition. We did neither in the end, but the (trainee) tour guide arranged for us to have a chocolate preparation/cooking session in stead at the lodge. Not what we had booked. The level of English for the tour guide was also very poor, which did not help our overall experience. Having said that, we did have a good time in the trip.”

07/09/2025“The itinerary covered all the places we wanted to visit and it was great to have the internal flights, transport and logistics organised for us. The arrangements put in place worked very well and saved us a lot of time and hassle, enabling us to enjoy the trip even more. Overall we had a great time. The one point for improvement was the choice of some of the hotels we were allocated. Many of them were really more suited to and dealt mostly with large groups of travellers so the two of us did feel rather "second best" and squeezed at times as we competed for service (and even food) with large coach parties. Smaller, more boutique style places (like those generally recommended in the Rough Guide itself) would have been better for us.”

“My friend and I booked a tailored trip to Peru—our first time doing something like this—and it exceeded all expectations. Maria, who handles trips in Peru, Ecuador, and Colombia, was outstanding from start to finish. She clearly communicated every detail before booking, adjusted the itinerary to our wishes, and handled everything professionally and with care. Payment was smooth, and she remained available whenever issues came up—even when our flights caused delays, she stepped in to help immediately. The guides were knowledgeable, patient, and passionate, adding depth to our experience. The drivers were reliable, and the whole trip felt both well-planned and pleasantly spontaneous. Even when minor problems came up, Maria resolved them quickly and efficiently. Her dedication made all the difference.”

03/05/2026“We went on a 12 day trip that included 3 countries and many 'tours' . All hotels were lovely and well situated. All pick ups to and from the various airports (there were 7 flights involved!) went without a hitch. We had only one problem with train tickets which was dealt with within the hour. In short, we had a really great time and I was very happy that we had used Jeferson's services. Couldn't have been better. Thank you very much, Jeferson and Rough Guides”

“This was an unforgettable experience in Peru run by consummate professionals. Our trip with Rough Guides was the most professional well run tour operation we have ever been on. Our initial expectations were typical of our trips to SA. Everyone is late, everything is behind schedule and sometimes you just don't get all of the itinerary completed because the guides and tour operators operated by a different clock. Everything from the time we were picked up at the airport to our departure was ON TIME! Our guides were at our hotel exactly when they said they were going to be. They were all friendly, spoke English well, were informative, just absolute pleasures to work with. Our booking process was just as smooth. We worked with Jeferson to set up our trip. Told him what we wanted to see and do, what our expectations were(culture, sightseeing, nature and history, skip the shopping) and he provided exactly what we asked for. Once we were in Peru, Jose and Ronnie assisted us through text messages, phone calls and WhatsApp guiding us through the whole trip, even through a few vagaries which always turned out in the end to be perfectly fine. Now, there was a downside to this extreme punctuality and organization. There was no room for us to not be ready to go when it was time to go. This is no fault but I hope this helps a future traveler. We frequently were picked up before our hotel began serving breakfast and did not get a good breakfast to start the day. The hotels would provide a "box meal" and no fault of Rough Guides but these box meals were hardly substantive enough to provide you with the energy to do the walking and exploring that we did. Because we did and saw a lot in a short period of time we typically stayed in a different hotel each night. This made our evenings hectic. We had to find dinner in a new town, get cleaned and packed up to be ready to go at 4:30-6:30 the following morning. I wouldn't call this a fault, just something to prepare for. This trip was booked to celebrate our 24th wedding anniversary and neither of us would hesitate to book again with Rough Guides and we will probably go back with Rough Guides on a slower paced trip in the future now that we have seen the highlights of Peru. Peru has so much more to offer than just the highlights too! We had a different guide each day of our trip with Ronnie and Jose informing us the day before who our guide was and when they would pick us up from our hotel. Every guide we had was punctual, friendly, informative and we even had a guide we had some deep philosophical discussions with whose native language is Quechuan and also spoke Spanish and English! What an immersion! Very much looking forward to our next trip with Rough Guides!”

“Response and support were quick and consistent through planning, paying, travel prep, during the trip and even after we were home. Connection to a local expert was fast and then they handled all of my questions in prompt message replies and even a real-time call. Love how they took care of bookings, tickets, transfers/transportation and even acknowledged our son's birthday. All tour guides, drivers and local contacts were friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. It all went so smoothly - a great vacation!”

18/11/2025“Authentic Travel did an excellent job organizing my last-minute trip to Peru. My mum was originally meant to join me but had to cancel due to a sudden injury. Although the tour was non-refundable, the team was very understanding and helped with adjustments to the LATAM flights, which I really appreciated. The overall itinerary was well planned, and everything ran smoothly. The team stayed in touch throughout the trip and was always available when needed. The Sacred Valley hotel and local guides were wonderful, and the whole experience was memorable. The only downside was the hotel in Cusco, which I wouldn’t recommend due to poor service and noise, but that was the only weak point in an otherwise great trip. I’d definitely recommend this company and would be happy to book through them again in the future.”

20/08/2025“I can't praise or recommend the Rough Guides strongly enough for the arrangements for our month in Peru with our two young children. When planning the trip, RGs were attentive, responsive, cheerful, sympathetic and constructive. The trip we ended up with was amazing: we achieved exactly what we dreamed of - and more. The travel partner RG partnered with in Peru were absolutely first class: everything happened like clockwork with local guides who were professional, informative, kind and always went the extra mile. We had genuine 24/7 contact with their Peruvian head office too, which eliminated a great deal of potential stress and prevented a number of logistical mishaps in circumstances outside their control. We would definitely recommend RG and are certainly going to use them again for our next big adventure!”
Jenny H.
“Maria was incredibly patient at working through a number of iterations of my itinerary on a very limited budget to make it as special as possible. Once I arrived everything was seamless and Maria kept in touch throughout my trip to check that everything was on track and whether I needed anything. All the people doing transfers and the guides were very friendly and professional, and the accommodation in Cusco was good. Highly professional service which facilitated me having a really memorable experience.”
