For the Tip of Borneo, bring swimwear, a towel, sun protection, and shoes you can wear comfortably on sand and uneven ground. The coastal views are especially beautiful later in the day, but the sun can be strong, so keep water with you. Local markets on the route are good places to try seasonal fruit and pick up small handmade souvenirs.

Day04

Rural Sabah villages and traditional crafts

Spend the day exploring villages around northern Sabah, walking through the countryside for a closer look at daily life in local communities.

Watch artisans create traditional handicrafts using age-old techniques passed down through generations. Continue to a village known for gong making, where you can learn how these iconic instruments are forged, shaped, and tuned.

You will also discover the community’s distinctive beekeeping practices, adding another layer to your understanding of rural Sabah’s craft traditions.

At Poring, follow a lush jungle trail to the canopy walkway, a series of hanging bridges suspended above the forest floor. From here, enjoy a rare bird’s eye view of the rainforest.

If time allows, relax in the soothing sulfur hot springs. After lunch, continue to Kinabalu Park Headquarters and explore the Mountain Garden, home to delicate orchids, endemic plants, and the cool highland beauty of Sabah.
