pring is in full swing now, and the temperatures are starting to rise. You might feel the "Khamsin" winds kicking up, stirring the air as summer approaches. Here is our complete guide to the weather in Egypt in April.
April is the start of Egypt’s peak travel season, with warm but manageable temperatures across the country. You can explore the Pyramids of Giza, the temples of Luxor, and Cairo’s markets without battling the searing heat of summer. Spring is in full swing, and the pleasant weather is ideal for long days of sightseeing.
The weather in Egypt in April is also great for visiting the Red Sea if you’re after a mix of culture and beach time. The water is warm enough for swimming, and diving conditions are fantastic, with excellent visibility and plenty of marine life.
That said, be prepared for more tourists. Popular spots like the Pyramids and the Egyptian Museum can get crowded. Reservation your accommodation and tours in advance is a good idea if you want to beat the rush and make the most of your visit. This can be a great time to plan your Egypt itinerary.

April is one of the best times to be in Egypt. The weather in Egypt in April is warm but not yet overwhelming, which makes it a comfortable month for exploring the country’s big-ticket sights. In Cairo and Luxor, daytime temperatures climb, but it’s still manageable for temple visits, museum stops, and Nile-side walks—especially if you start early. It’s also a great time for a cruise along the Nile, with long, sunny days and cool evenings on the water.
The Red Sea coast is heating up too, with ideal conditions for snorkeling, diving, and beach downtime in places like Hurghada and Sharm El-Sheikh. Desert trips are possible before the real heat kicks in, though you’ll want to be prepared for strong sun and cooler nights. April falls just before the peak summer season, so prices haven’t spiked yet, and major sites still feel relatively relaxed—especially if you time your visits right. For more tips, see our guide to how to plan a trip to Egypt.
You can expect a couple spikes in tourist crowds in April, particularly around Easter. Families come for the vacation break, which means crowded museums, busy Nile cruises, and higher prices for accommodations and tours. Around this time Luxor and the Valley of the Kings will feel extra congested, and flights can get pricey if you don’t plan ahead. That said, the rest of the month you'll find just moderate crowds. If you're still deciding, see our guide to the best time to visit Egypt.

April is one of the best months to visit Egypt.
Cairo in April hits a sweet spot — the city is lively, the weather is pleasant, and it’s easier to get around than in peak heat. Visit the Pyramids early in the day before the sun gets strong, then head into the cooler interiors of the Egyptian Museum or the newer Grand Egyptian Museum if it’s open. Ramadan may fall in April some years, changing opening hours but also adding cultural depth, with night markets and street gatherings after sunset.
April is one of the best times to explore Luxor before temperatures climb higher. You can visit the Valley of the Kings and Karnak Temple without the oppressive heat of summer. It’s still dry, so the desert landscapes stay crisp and dramatic. Start early to beat the heat, and take long midday breaks — rooftop cafés and shaded yards are easy to find. Nile cruises between Luxor and Aswan are also running regularly by April, with calmer weather.
April is prime time for the Sinai, especially if you’re after a mix of beach time and hiking. Dahab is quieter than Sharm El Sheikh, with easy access to coral reefs and mountain trails. Conditions are good for diving, and the Red Sea is warm enough for long swims. Hikes around Mount Sinai are popular this time of year — start before dawn to avoid the heat and watch the sun rise over the desert.

In Egypt’s Western Desert, the White Desert is filled with odd, chalky rock formations that have been shaped by the wind over thousands of years. It’s a popular spot for camping under the stars. You’ll be surrounded by towering white cliffs and bizarre, otherworldly shapes.Water activities in Dahab
Dahab, on the Sinai Peninsula, is a prime spot for watersports, especially in April. The weather’s perfect for snorkeling, scuba diving, windsurfing, and kitesurfing. The Blue Hole, one of the world’s top dive sites, is nearby and full of marine life and colorful coral.

April is a great time to visit the Monastery of St. Catherine, as the cooler temperatures make hiking pleasant. This UNESCO World Heritage site is one of the oldest Christian monasteries in the world, located at the base of Mount Sinai. You can also hike up the mountain to catch a sunrise or sunset, where tradition holds that Moses received the Ten Commandments.
In the Valley of the Kings near Luxor, you can visit Tutankhamun’s famous tomb. While it’s not the largest tomb, it’s full of history. The golden burial mask is now in the Egyptian Museum, but the tomb’s original vibrant wall paintings are still worth taking a trip to see.
