On today's agenda is a guided hike to the historic temple and meditation caves at Bambaragala. Built over 250 years ago, the Bambaragala Cave Temple has a rich history and even richer mythology. The cave temple has ancient drawings and markings possibly pre-dating the Kandyan era, and the climb up to the top of the Bambaragala Rock gives you stunning panoramic views of the Victoria Reservoir and the entire region.

When you return back to the hotel you can take part in the afternoon yoga session. Overnight in Rukgala.

DAY 4: Rukgala

Early breakfast at the hotel and then begin your trek to Heeloya Village to explore typical Sri Lankan village life.

Heeloya is a very traditional village. Tourists are encouraged to partake in some of the work and become part of the village life by picking fruits and vegetables to use in cooking a local dish. You also get an opportunity to see some of the other aspects of this village, such as the Heeloya waterfall, local species and herbs.

When you return back to the hotel you can take part in the afternoon yoga session. Overnight in Rukgala.

DAY 5: Rukgala / Gal Oya

Breakfast at the hotel. In the morning you can also take part in the morning yoga session. Later you'll proceed towards Gal Oya where you'll check into your hotel and enjoy some leisure time.

In the evening you can join the Gal Oya Lodge Animal Monitoring Program. The hotel has an ongoing project to record and monitor the lodge’s resident species of animals in order to understand them better and take necessary steps to conserve these animals, regularly embarking on evening walks around the lodge to set up camera traps.

Or you can do a Night Safari at the Gal Oya National Park (optional) to try your luck in viewing some of Sri Lanka’s nocturnal animals, guided by an experienced naturalist. Amongst other species, you can hope to see jackals, elephants, nightjars, wild boars, mouse deers, jungle cats and civets. Overnight in Gal Oya.

You could spot elephants swimming between islands or bathing at the lake’s edge. Overnight in Gal Oya Lodge.

DAY 7: Gal Oya / Koslanda

After breakfast at your hotel, join a bird walk and hike through the local area in Gal Oya. There are a number of possible routes, including leisurely strolls around the lake where you may observe many bird species such as kingfishers, eagles, kites and many aquatic birds. As an alternative (optional extra), you can embark on A Walk of Discovery with Chief Veddha from the forest-dwelling, indigenous people of Sri Lanka. Discover and learn about local nature as the Chief brings the forest alive, explaining his tribe’s use of medicinal plants, ancient hunting grounds and cave dwellings. It’s a fascinating insight into how the hunter-gatherers lived in the jungles of Gal Oya.

Later transfer to Koslanda and check into your hotel. Overnight in Koslanda.

DAY 8: Koslanda

After breakfast, it's time for a trip which will provide you with absolutely unforgettable views; you will be taken to Lipton Seat and the Dambatenne Tea Factory.
