During two weeks researching in Albania for the Rough Guide to Europe on a Budget, Web Editor Lottie Gross took over our Instagram account to document her travels. Here are some of her best photos.

It's nigh-on impossible to take bad pictures in much of Albania. There's a wealth of natural beauty and historical charm that just sings when you point your lens at it. During my time there, I was faced with every travel writer or photographer's ultimate dilemma at each turn: notepad or camera, which do I use first?

Whether it was strolling the winding, cobbled streets of Berat's hilltop citadel or marching up a mountain in the valley of Valbona, I was struck with a picture-perfect view around every corner or at every viewpoint. Even the grey, brooding skies over the Ionian sea were a sight to behold from the deserted beaches on Albania's southern coastline.
