“We had a wonderful time in Costa Rica, but you do need to be constantly working to get what you want with the fixer provided by Rough Guides. Our schedule of promises included turtle watching in Lirio Lodge between Tortuguero and Limone, and a sunset catamaran cruise in Manuel Antonio. Neither of them actually materialised. No-one said they would be possible when we were there, despite the promises on our pieces of paper. We would have had to pay extra, but we would probably have done so. But no-one gave us the ability to book these potentially wonderful experiences when we were on the ground. Also we were left with two SIM cards with no guidance on how to make them work. They were not the "plug and play" promised. Finally, we were given the wrong baggage allowance for the flight back north from Drake Bay. We had to pay for being overweight. That money is we are promised being refunded, but part of choosing a fixer based in an actual country is that they do not get things like this wrong 😞”

“To be honest, I was very nervous about this trip to Costa Rica. I knew very little about the country before I booked my flight. As I began researching my trip to this amazing country I realized how little I really knew. I became concerned about how I would get from one place to another. Where would I have my meals. What attractions would I see and visit and how would I get there. Along came Rough Guide to the rescue. They took care of everything. Roberto, our travel agent took care of everything. He arranged all of private transportation from the airport to each of our 3 hotels. He also arranged our excursions from hiking trips through the rainforest to paddling down the river viewing all sorts of wildlife. These tours included very experienced naturalist who guided through the jungle where we were able to see some amazing wildlife. They also made meal and dining recommendations to the local restaurants. Rough Guide takes the worry out of international travel. I wouldn't hesitate recommending them to friends nor would hesitate using them again.”

“ Just wanted to say thank you so much for organising such a fabulous trip for us to see beautiful Costa Rica with its variety of landscapes. We thoroughly enjoyed our time there and spotted some wonderful wildlife. The timing was just right too getting there just before the rainy season and it was very quiet in the hotel at Manuel Antonio and at the lodge in Bajos del Toro we were the only guests! What a fabulous place though up in the cloud forest. Thanks again and hopefully I'll be arranging my next trip through Rough Guides! We only had one small delay when our transport from the airport at Puerto Jimenez to Encanta La Vida didn't arrive but the people there were so helpful in getting us a taxi instead.
