Norway, no matter the season, is an absolute dream for photographers. Whether you're standing under the dazzling northern lights during autumn/winter or living in the landscape of the midnight sun in the summer, you’re in for a treat.
The golden light of the midnight sun is something I’d never experienced until this summer, and it’s something I’ll never forget. Between around 10pm and 3am, the sky glows gold and orange, lighting up the mountain peaks, majestic fjords and rolling hills.
Wanting to have the full ‘Norwegian’ experience, I drove from the very southern tip (Kristiansand) to the north, Kirkenes. The landscapes I drove, hiked, climbed, ran and walked through were unlike any I’ve ever seen. The people were so kind and generous, and the light was a dream.
The highlights for me were the fjords nearest to Ålesund (and indeed the city itself, dubbed “the Venice of the north” for its canals) and the incredible Lofoten. Both places are very much "in vogue" for adventure travellers, and it was quite clear to see why. Here are some of my favourite moments I captured whilst on the road.
