Australia’s biggest state has often been neglected by travellers in a hurry to hop straight over to the East Coast or the continent’s Red Centre. This year though, all that has changed with Qantas launching its 17-hour direct flight from London to Perth.
Western Australia’s dimensions are so vast that an adventure to the remote, northern Kimberley region can involve planes, boats and a 4WD. Fly into Broome, take a scenic helicopter ride then jump on a camel for sunset at Cable Beach. Join a road trip on the rugged, unsealed Gibb River Road to Purnululu National Park with Kimberley Wild for a true wilderness adventure. Nights in a swag bag are the best way to see the stars, and the mighty Bungle Bungles are hugely impressive from the air.
One thing’s for sure – you can’t see all of Australia’s North West in one trip, so you’ll definitely be coming back.
