All flights in and out of Bucharest use Otopeni (Henri Coandă) airport, but there are half a dozen regional airports (of which Timişoara and Cluj-Napoca are the most important), served by a growing number of budget airlines such as Wizz Air (www.wizzair.com), Blue Air (www.blueairweb.com) and Carpatair (www.carpatair.com).

Travelling to Romania by train is fairly simple via Paris, Vienna and Budapest, and there are also through trains from Prague, Belgrade, Sofia and Kiev. This will usually cost more than flying into the country, but works well as part of a larger Europe-wide trip using a pass or point-to-point ticket options offered by the rail contacts listed, including InterRail (for European residents) and Eurail (for non-European residents).
