The border with Botswana at Ngoma (daily 7am–6pm; t 062 360002) lies around 60km south of Katima Mulilo along a good tarred road. Across the border, in Botswana, a decent tarred road runs through Chobe National Park to Kasane, 70km east, which in turn has onward tarred road connections south to other major towns in Botswana, and east to Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe. If you are transiting the park to Kasane, keeping on the main road, then no park fees are charged. However, if you want to take your time along the more scenic route bordering the Chobe River (4WD necessary), or even strike out southeast towards Savuti and the Okavango Delta, then park fees will apply. The usual cross-border fees apply to take a vehicle into Botswana or Namibia.
