Several outfits offer multi-day canoe trips down the Orange River; the two operators below are experienced, with excellent reputations, and can rent out camping equipment. Paddle through dramatic scenery, enjoy excellent campfire cooking and sleep out under the stars. Since these companies cater primarily to school groups and South African families, high-season prices coincide with South African school holidays (generally Sept to mid-Oct, mid-Dec to mid-Jan and over Easter), when the camp accommodation is usually booked up. You can also organize to go canoeing for a day (usually spending about four hours on the river) at short notice.
