Last week saw the start of Gatwick Airport police force's Operation Disrupt, a crackdown on inebriated passengers boarding planes – it is, after all, an offence to board a plane whilst drunk in the UK. That same week, Cheapflights.co.uk released data that shows 62% of British travellers hit the bar as soon as they pass security.
Poll: is 8am too early to drink at the airport?
Their data also shows almost a third of Brits admitted to boarding a plane whilst drunk, and much of this airport boozing goes on as early as 8am. But is that really an appropriate time to be reaching for a G&T when the rest of the country is sipping coffee?
