From Ayvacık, the main Çanakkale– İzmir road winds through pine-forested hills, offering occasional glimpses out across the Gulf of Edremit. The road, which is currently being widened and improved, straightens out at Küçükkuyu, the first major settlement and the only real town, before continuing past a succession of small resorts to the transport hub of Edremit itself.
