After years as a professional intern during college at “Late Night with Dave Letterman,” Spy Magazine, and The New Yorker, Doug Lansky rejected the corporate world and hit the road with a nationally syndicated travel column, “Vagabond,” that grew to reach over ten million readers nationwide. Doug has since hosted a travel documentary for the Travel Channel and served as a regular contributor to NPR’s “Savvy Traveler.” He is author of Rough Guide’s best-selling First Time Around the World and First-Time Europe, as well as Travel Survival: The Essential Field Manual. Doug has been on the road for nearly a decade, spending time in over one hundred countries. Doug's offbeat adventures include Sumo wrestling in Japan, working at the Ice Hotel in Sweden, test driving Ferraris in Italy and attending a yodeling course in the Alps. He currently lives in Sweden with his wife and three children.
