Arrival
You're most likely to arrive in Trujillo by bus or colectivo from Lima. Most of the buses have terminals close to the centre of town near the Mansiche Stadium, on avenidas Daniel Carrion or España to the southwest, or east of it along avenidas America Norte or Ejercito. Colectivos also mostly leave from and end up on Avenida España. If you're arriving by day it's fine to walk to the city centre, though at night it's best to take a taxi ($2–3).
If you fly into the city, you'll arrive at the airport, about 10km away, near Huanchaco. Taxis into the city will cost around $7, or you can get a bus, which leaves every twenty minutes between approximately 6am and 7pm daily from the roundabout just outside the airport gates (50¢).
