Catedral

Opening time: Mon– Sat 11am–3pm

Price: Free

The Catedral, just off the Plaza Mayor, was built of red and grey stone between 1612 and 1671, it has a fine, three-aisled nave culminating in a stunning Baroque gold-leaf altarpiece.

If you can be in Ayacucho for Semana Santa, the Holy Week beginning the Friday before Easter, you'll see fabulous daily processions, pageants and nightly candlelit processions centred on the Catedral.
