Parque Zoológico Huachipa

Much newer than the Parque de Las Leyendas zoo, if a long way out to the east of Lima where Av Las Torres meets Vitarte (take a taxi; $5–7), Huachipa (daily 9.30am–5.30pm; $3.50; 3563666, www.zoohuachipa.com.pe ) offers a diverse, created habitat with lakes and rides, plenty of animals and a forest of birds.
