La Casa de Tristan del Pozo, also known as La Casa Rickets, is a particularly impressive colonial mansion. Built in 1737 as a seminario, it later became the splendid residence of the Rickets family, who made its fortune from the wool trade in the late nineteenth century, and boasts an extremely attractive traditional facade and courtyard. The stonework above the main door depicts Christ's genealogy, with highly stylized plants supporting five discs, or Jesuit medallions, with JHS (the abbreviation for Jesus) at the centre, Maria and Jose to the side of this, and Joaquin and Ana on the extremes. Now owned and lavishly restored by the Banco Continental, the mansion houses a small museum and art gallery.
