Money
The US dollar is the official currency of Ecuador. Bills come in denominations of $1, $5, $10, $20, $50 and $100. Coins come in 1, 5, 10, 25 and 50 cent pieces, plus there are $1 coins only minted in the US. Be warned that $50 and $100 bills are rarely accepted at most shops and restaurants, and small change is often in short supply, so bring plenty of low-denomination bills from your home country if possible.
