You'll find examples of Jesuit silverwork in the Museo de Arte Sagrado tucked away behind the main body of the Catedral Metropolitana. To find the entrance, go down the passage belonging to the bookshop next door to the cathedral. A gate at the bottom takes you back into the cathedral grounds and into one of Santiago's most evocative courtyards, where languid palm trees brush against crumbling colonial architecture. From here, signs point to the three rooms containing the museum's collection of religious paintings, sculpture, furniture and silverwork, including a finely crafted silver lectern and tabernacle. These two pieces aside, none of it is as impressive as the stuff in the Museo Colonial in the Iglesia San Francisco, but still makes for a rewarding browse.
