A huge, ramshackle iron hangar houses the colourful Feria Modelo de Ovalle (Mon, Wed, Fri & Sat 6am–6pm), the largest fresh-produce market in the north of Chile and definitely worth a visit; you can pick up fantastic home-made cheeses (including some alarmingly pungent goat cheeses) as well as delicious dried figs and a vast range of fruit and vegetables.
