Money

Australia's currency is the Australian dollar, or "buck", written as $ or AUS$ and divided into 100 cents. The colourful plastic notes with forgery-proof clear windows come in AUS$100, AUS$50, AUS$20, AUS$10 and AUS$5 denominations, along with AUS$2, AUS$1, 50¢, 20¢, 10¢ and 5¢ coins. There are no longer 1¢ or 2¢ coins so an irregular bill, such as $1.98 etc, will be rounded up or down to the closest denomination, which can be confusing at first.
