The Southwest
Arrival
Las Vegas's busy McCarran International Airport is a mile east of the southern end of the Strip, and four miles from downtown. Some hotels run free shuttle buses for guests, while Bell Trans (
702/739-7990,
www.bell-trans.com ) runs minibuses to the Strip ($6.50) and downtown ($8). From the airport, a taxi to the Strip costs from $15 for the southern end up to $30 for casinos further north, though fares can vary enormously depending on the time taken. Amtrak trains don't serve Las Vegas, but Greyhound's long-distance buses arrive at 200 S Main St downtown.
