Margaret Mitchell House

The only ordinary brick home left on Peachtree Street in Midtown, is the Margaret Mitchell House. Mitchell and her husband lived in the small basement apartment during the ten years she took to write the best-selling novel of all time, Gone With the Wind. Published in 1936, it took just six weeks to sell enough copies to form a tower fifty times higher than the Empire State Building; the 1939 movie escalated its popularity. Guided tours and various exhibits tell the whole story. More memorabilia is displayed in the separate but linked movie museum (same hours and ticket).
