Centennial Olympic Park
By contrast, tourists and locals alike are flocking to Centennial Olympic Park, a quarter-mile northwest of Underground Atlanta. Created when several downtown blocks were razed prior to the 1996 Olympics, and intended as a focus for public festivities during the Games, the park was forced into temporary closure by the pipe-bombing that killed two people. Now relandscaped, it's the city's most popular open space.
