LoDo
There's a range of galleries, brewpubs, shops, and lofts in LoDo, or Lower Downtown, a revitalized late-Victorian district bordered by 14th, 20th, Wynkoop, and Larimer streets; it was here, between 14th and 15th streets, that William Larimer built Denver's original log cabin. The structure burned down in a general conflagration within a few years, whereupon a city ordinance decreed that all new construction be in brick. Opposite the venerable Union Street train station is a branch of one of the best independent bookstores in the US: the Tattered Cover at 1628 16th St and Wynkoop.
