Arrival

The gigantic, ultra-high-tech Denver International Airport ( 303/342-2000 or 1-800/247-2336, www.flydenver.com ) lies 24 miles northeast of downtown. Regular RTD SkyRide buses can take you downtown ($7–11 single, $13–20 round-trip) and to Boulder ($11 single). Buses leave from outside Door 511 on the East Side of Jeppesen Terminal, Level 5, Island 5. There are also a number of independent shuttles that, for $20–25, will drop you off at a downtown hotel; shuttles to many of the state's major ski resorts can also be arranged within the terminal, though advance reservations are recommended.

Amtrak trains arrive on the northwest side of downtown Denver at the beautiful old Union Station on Wynkoop Street; the Greyhound bus terminal is every bit as close to the action at 1055 19th St.

For information, stop by the Official Visitor Information Center, conveniently located downtown at 1600 California St (Mon– Fri 9am–6pm all year, Sat 9am–5pm and Sun 11am–3pm in summer; 303/892-1505 or 1-800/233-6837, www.denver.org ) with the main entrance on the pedestrian-only 16th Street.
