Getting around

Because the city is compact, you can cover a lot of territory on foot. The MTA's bus, subway, and light-rail lines ($1.60, day-pass $3.50; 410/539-5000, www.mtamaryland.com ) cover many locations, though the subway and light rail are limited to one main route each. On buses, have exact change ready. Taxi companies include Yellow Cab ( 410/685-1212) and Royal Cab ( 410/327-0330). Water taxis link the Inner Harbor and sixteen area attractions, including the National Aquarium, Fell's Point, and Fort McHenry (schedule varies, usually runs every 15–20min summer Mon– Sat 10am–11pm, Sun 10am–9pm; rest of year daily 11am–6pm; 410/563-3901 or 1-800/658-8947, www.thewatertaxi.com ; $8 all-day pass).
