Getting around

    Fort Worth's public transportation system, The T ( www.the-t.com , 817/215-8600), operates useful buses and shuttles ($1.50), with the Trinity Railway Express ( 817/215-8600, www.trinityrailwayexpress.org ) running a longer commuter service to Dallas for $2.50. The downtown Sundance Square and Stockyard areas are well patrolled and safe to walk around after dark; for a taxi between the two, call Yellow Checker ( 817/426-6262).

    There are three visitor centers ( www.fortworth.com ): downtown in the CVB at 415 Throckmorton St, in the Cultural District at the Will Rogers Memorial Center at 3401 W Lancaster Ave, and in the Stockyards at 130 E Exchange Ave.
