Arriving by car, you drive into town on N Palm Canyon Drive, passing the visitor center at no. 2901 (daily 9am–5pm, Sun closes 4pm; 1-800/347-7746, www.palm-springs.org ), a classic piece of pop architecture with an upswept roof and boomerang design. Greyhound buses (4 daily from LA; 2–4hr) pull in downtown at 311 N Indian Canyon Drive, while Amtrak trains from LA (2 daily; 2hr 30min) stop just south of I-10 at N Indian Avenue, about ten minutes from downtown. The local operator SunBus (6am–8pm; tickets $1, day passes $3; 1-800/343-3456, www.sunline.org ) circulates in all the local resort towns.
