Baja California and the Pacific Northwest
Eating
1 Los Adobes Hidalgo, between Juárez and Colegio Militar
612/145-0203 Adobes' peaceful desert garden dining room and adjacent café and WiFi hangout are its greatest assets – not the high-priced, over-done gourmet dishes. The café is open 9am–5pm; the restaurant for lunch and dinner.
2
Café Santa Fe Márquez de León s/n, on the plaza
612/145-0340 One of the Cape's best restaurants and hands-down Todos Santos's top spot, Santa Fe's Northern Italian menu showcases locally grown ingredients and a stellar wine list that combines vintages from the Valle de Guadalupe and abroad. Dinner costs about M$700 a person, with wine, and tables are set inside an old hacienda or outside on the courtyard patio. Closed Tues.
3 Caffé Todos Santos Centenario 33, at Topete
612/145-0340 Decorated by local artists, this expat-run café does fine breakfasts, coffees, teas, muffins and bagels. Lunch and dinner are a few steps above deli fare.
4 La Copa Wine Bar Legaspi 33, at Todos Santos Inn
612/145-0040 Good by-the-glass selections as well as the town's most satisfying margaritas. Intimate and cosy, it's one of the few romantic hideaways in town.
5 La Coronela Morelos at Juárez, at Hotel California. Good, slightly highbrow Mexican cuisine – such as seared tuna – with a country slant, and tapas on a separate menu.
6 Lonchería Carla Hidalgo s/n, between Juárez and Colegio Militar. An open-air café with flavourful quesadillas and burritos for M$10 apiece.
7 Mariscos Mi Costa Colegio Militar s/n at Ocampo Excellent seafood place with a relaxed atmosphere. Try the sopa de mariscos or shrimp ceviche; also serves decent tacos.
8 Shut-up Frank's Degollado s/n, between Rangel and Cuauhtémoc The town's only sports bar, with great burgers and some traditional Mexican food.
9
Tacos Chilakos Juárez and Hidalgo Cheap, easy and open-air, Chilakos is regarded as one of the best places for tacos on the peninsula.
