The Art Gallery of Greater Victoria is of little interest unless you're partial to contemporary Canadian paintings and the country's best collection of Japanese art; the building, housed in the 1890 Spencer Mansion, boasts the only complete Shinto shrine outside Japan. It does, however, have a small permanent collection of Emily Carr's work as well as a temporary exhibition, usually interesting, that changes every six weeks. To get here by bus, take the #10-Haultain, #11-Uplands/Beacon Hill or #14-University from downtown.
